Statement from CKA Executive Director Abraham Kim, Ph.D. on the Allen, TX Shooting

“I am wrestling with pain after the senseless May 6, 2023 murders at the mall in Allen, Texas. Our hearts and prayers go out to all the families impacted. As a father, I am particularly heartbroken by the deaths of the children–James Cho and sisters, Daniela and Sofia Mendoza–and the thought that William Cho lost his parents and brother on what should have been a day filled with love.

These horrendous acts of violence should be a turning point for action in our country. I call on the Korean American community and our partners–from organizations to families—to ask what must be done to prevent these attacks from happening again?

I also ask the Korean American community and our partners to join us in supporting the victims and their families. CKA will be making a donation to support William and the victims of the shooting. CKA is in contact with local and national community leaders to see how we can further support grieving families.”
