Council of Korean Americans visits Montana State University
BOZEMAN — Members of a national Korean American nonprofit leadership organization visited Montana State University to meet with students, faculty and administrators to discuss geopolitics, how to build international relations and opportunities for joint collaborations.
Delegates from the Council of Korean Americans met with MSU President Waded Cruzado on Monday to talk about establishing closer relationships between MSU and South Korea’s higher education institutions. Topics included leadership training, student exchanges and how MSU can attract more students from South Korea.
“Our talks were delightful,” Cruzado said. “We left having a better understanding of how we can help each other be more successful. I look forward to collaborating in the future and strengthening relationships with our South Korean partners.”
Abraham Kim is the executive director of CKA, a nonprofit focused on lifting the voices of Korean Americans, and he has ties to Montana. He previously worked as the executive director of the Mansfield Center at University of Montana, an international outreach center.
Kim and MSU’s Office of International Programs connected to explore an opportunity to bring a panel of guest speakers that would engage with the community of Bozeman and MSU to talk about current issues regarding relations with North Korea, South Korea and China, according to Kristof Zaba, MSU’s dean for global engagement and international programs
