Will Um is a nationally recognized trial attorney who focuses his practice on complex business litigation, insurance recovery advice, and related coverage litigation. He advises and represents corporate policyholders in complex insurance coverage claims relating to a variety of matters including class actions, media liability, data breach and privacy issues, directors and officers liability, and intellectual property disputes. Will also handles general business litigation matters involving complex commercial contracts, fraud and misrepresentation claims, and unfair business practices. Over the course of his career, Will has helped his clients recover hundreds of millions of dollars in various types of insurance matters. Will’s clients include internet and media entities, financial institutions, aerospace companies, and professional services entities.

Will has handled major, multi-party complex litigation matters in both state and federal courts. In addition to trial work, he has served as lead counsel in arbitration proceedings across the country and secured numerous multi-million dollar arbitration awards, including one of the largest defense fee arbitration awards in California history.

Will has been a frequent guest lecturer at the University of California, Irvine School of Law, and provides professional commentary to various major legal publications in the area of insurance law.

Will is committed to public service, having provided many pro bono legal services to various non-profit organizations and has served on several boards of non-profit organizations.

Will also served as a Regent on the Board of Regents of the University of California.

Will is married to his wife, Christine Kim, and they have two children and live in Southern California.
