Renee Lee is the Acting Director, Office of Planning & Events, Bureau of Global Public Affairs at the Department of State. Prior to joining the federal government in 2011, Renee served as a public affairs officer in the U.S. Air Force with assignments and deployments in the Pacific region. She has a bachelor’s degree in communication from the University of Washington and a master’s degree of public diplomacy from the University of Southern California.

Renee continues to serve in the U.S. Air Force as a public affairs officer and foreign area officer specializing in Northeast Asia. She is currently assigned to the District of Columbia Air National Guard. Renee has served on the board of the Asian American Foreign Affairs Association and Veterans@State, and is a 2011 Presidential Management Fellow. She is bilingual in Korean and proficient in French. Though raised mostly in East Asia as a U.S. Army brat, Renee calls Hawaii her U.S. home.
