Education has always been a cornerstone of Lakeya’s journey. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and Anthropology with a Minor in Communication Studies from West Virginia University, where her academic pursuits ignited her interest in understanding human behavior and communication dynamics. Building on this foundation, Lakeya furthered her education by obtaining a Master’s Degree in Public Health with a Concentration in Environmental Health, demonstrating her commitment to addressing pressing societal issues.
Prior to her tenure at CKA, Lakeya honed her administrative skills in various capacities. Notably, she served as a Lead Registrar at American Public University Systems, where her meticulous attention to detail and organizational prowess played a pivotal role in maintaining efficient registrar operations.
Lakeya’s journey into the nonprofit sector was a natural progression fueled by her desire to make a tangible difference in communities. Over several years, she has lent her expertise to numerous nonprofit organizations, offering invaluable support in day-to-day operations, program development, event coordination, and more. Lakeya’s unwavering dedication to supporting nonprofit growth underscores her commitment to fostering positive change and amplifying the impact of mission-driven initiatives.
In her current role at CKA, Lakeya leverages her diverse skill set to provide comprehensive virtual assistance, facilitating seamless operations and empowering the organization to fulfill its mission effectively. Whether she’s coordinating events, managing schedules, or assisting with programming, Lakeya’s contributions are instrumental in advancing CKA’s objectives and strengthening its impact within the Korean American community and beyond.
Outside of her professional endeavors, Lakeya enjoys exploring new cuisines, traveling, and spending quality time with her loved ones. With her passion for service and her drive for excellence, Lakeya Simmons continues to leave a lasting mark on the nonprofit
landscape, embodying the spirit of leadership and compassion in all that she does.
