Midshipman Justin Chu is a native of Pomona, California. He is currently a 3rd-year student at the United States Naval Academy and will earn a Bachelor of Science in Robotics and Control Engineering upon graduation in May of 2023. Upon commissioning through the United States Naval Academy, he intends to begin the qualification process to be designated as a Naval Aviator in the United States Navy.

During summer training, he participated in an internship at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center under the supervision of NASA Aerospace Engineer, Dr. Beth Paquette, where he worked on the additive electronics project through the Naval Academy Research Opportunity Program (NAROP). Justin was selected to come back for the 2022 NASA Summer Internship Program as a Robotics and Programming Specialist under Dr. Paquette.
