Joyce Y. Kang serves as the senior international policy advisor at Bread for the World. In her role, she provides organizational leadership and policy expertise on global food security, nutrition, and the root causes to global hunger. Prior to Bread, she led performance audits as a senior international affairs analyst at the U.S. Government Accountability Office for 9 years. There, Joyce also led agency and division diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) efforts, facilitated sessions on anti-Asian incidents and rhetoric, and served on the board of directors for the agency’s child development center. In addition, she is a certified DEIA facilitator and previously taught at the agency’s learning center. She has been recognized for sustained commitment to DEIA efforts, community service, and modeling inclusive leadership. Joyce is passionate about justice and the arts, and spends time volunteering with organizations supporting those experiencing homelessness, underserved youth, and ushering at a theater.
Prior to Bread and GAO, Joyce worked at an education non-profit coordinating community resources for vulnerable youth and a Korea-focused policy institute in DC. Joyce earned a Masters of International Affairs at UC San Diego’s School of Global Policy and Strategy, and B.A. at Temple University.
