As the firmwide head of O’Melveny’s Korea Practice, Joseph Kim advises both Korean companies with legal matters in the US as well as US companies transacting business in Korea. With his work experience and educational background in both law and business, Joe has guided clients through many difficult and complex legal matters during his 29 years at O’Melveny.

Joe was a driving force behind the Firm opening an office in Seoul, which not only serves some of the largest global companies in the world, but also is an active participant in the South Korean community and a leader in bringing pro bono efforts to the area. He manages some of the largest client relationships of the Firm and spends a great deal of time in the Seoul office to ensure its integration with the Firm.

In addition to leading the Firm’s Korea Practice, Joe represents clients in M&A, cross border investments and joint ventures as well as complex financing transactions, including a number of them involving billions of dollars.
Joe actively participates in Asian Pacific American community matters. He serves on the Board of Asian Americans Advancing Justice – Los Angeles and is a member of the Council of Korean Americans.
