18th Annual 727 Korean War Veterans Armistice Day Commemoration
On July 23, we had the honor of hosting the 18th Annual 727 Armistice Day Commemoration in the historic Cannon Caucus Room on Capitol Hill. This gathering marked another year of honoring Korean War veterans and standing together in support of peace on the Korean Peninsula. 🕊️
Generously sponsored by LG, this reception was co-hosted alongside Remember 727, the Korean American Grassroots Conference, the Korea Economic Institute, the Korean American Institute, and the Hwarang Youth Foundation.
Present at the event were lawmakers from the United States and South Korea, including Rep. Cho Jeong-sik, Rep. Na Kyung-won, and a bipartisan delegation from the South Korea–U.S. parliamentary union, alongside U.S. Members of Congress Young Kim (R-CA), Mark Takano (D-CA), Judy Chu (D-CA), and Dave Min (D-CA).
The evening featured heartfelt remarks from the members of Congress and veterans, stirring Korean traditional performances, and a poignant candle-lighting ceremony at 7:27 PM.
We are grateful to the four Korean American Members of Congress (Reps. Young Kim, Marilyn Strickland, Dave Min, and Andy Kim) and the Congressional Korean American Staff Association (CKASA) who are honorary co-sponsors.
Let us continue to honor the sacrifices of those who served and reaffirm our commitment to lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula.
