Here at the Council of Korean Americans (CKA), we have been working to help other nonprofit organizations provide financial support for their respective communities and we’d greatly value your support in our endeavors, as well! Your donations would directly benefit these communities that have been impacted by #COVID19.
Challenge
The COVID-19 pandemic has taxed the financial resources of many nonprofit organizations across the United States that serve the Korean American population. While some national funding relief has been made available, for some organizations it is not enough to bridge the gap created by the additional need for aid. Furthermore, the necessity for services in many cases has increased due to the economic downturn, exacerbating an already challenging situation for many people.
Solution
CKA will identify 5 regions across the U.S. with high Korean American populations. Funds will be given to nonprofits in these regions that support Korean Americans who are low-income seniors/support elder care, assist with mental health & family counseling, or provide aid to undocumented families. Direct aid will be offered to nonprofits on the frontlines of helping the most vulnerable populations of Korean Americans & ensure their constituents do not fall due to a lack of funding.
Long-Term Impact
The COVID Relief Fund will allow nonprofits to continue to serve their communities despite current financial challenges. The aid these nonprofits receive from this project could tip the scale in their favor, ensuring that they are able to persist in fulfilling their missions. CKA hopes to serve as an example of giving and encouraging communities to continue supporting efforts to help those in need. It also addresses the funding needs of nonprofits that support underrepresented communities.
