Hoon Cho is a Managing Director at GI Partners, a private equity investment firm based in Menlo Park, CA. He currently leads GI’s investment efforts in the financial services and energy sectors while co-heading the firm’s healthcare activities. He is a Director of Waypoint/GI Venture, Archon Resources, a Board Observer of First Republic Bank (NYSE: FRC) and former Director of The Linc Group. Prior to joining GI Partners, Hoon led the private equity investing activities for Vulcan Capital, the investment arm for Vulcan, Inc., the family office of Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen. At Vulcan Inc., Hoon served on the Boards of and played significant roles in the restructurings of several of Mr. Allen’s high profile assets including the Seattle Seahawks and Portland Trail Blazers. In addition, he also advised Mr. Allen on his Microsoft stock holdings as well as overall asset allocation. Hoon graduated with honors from Princeton University and earned his MBA from Harvard Business School. He serves on the board of The Nueva School and has served as a Trustee of Princeton University. Hoon and his wife, Junehee, reside in Hillsborough, CA with their three young boys.
