DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][vc_column_text]\n\nOn Tuesday, February 2, the Council of Korean Americans (CKA) is proud to announce a speaker event with Dr. Jonny Kim, NASA Astronaut, U.S. Navy Lieutenant, and Harvard-trained Physician. \nCome listen to an in-depth conversation with Dr. Jonny Kim as he shares about his Korean American immigrant upbringing in Southern California, his military career as a member of U.S. Navy SEAL (with over 100 operations), his medical training at Harvard University, and his experiences as a NASA astronaut. He recently qualified to be a part of the Artemis team’s upcoming 2024 mission to the Moon.\nThe discussion will be moderated by Dr. Mat Park, Subject Matter Expert in Organizational and Leadership Development at NASA, and will also feature a Q&A session with the audience following the conversation. \nWe encourage you to share this event with friends and family. Meet Dr. Jonny Kim\n \nNASA Astronaut, Member of US Navy SEAL & Harvard-trained Physician\n \n\n\n \nMeet the Korean American NASA experts\n \n[vc_empty_space height=”50px”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”7554″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” onclick=”custom_link” img_link_target=”_blank”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″]Dr. Jonny Kim\n\nNASA Astronaut and U.S. Navy Lieutenant\n\n\n \nDr. Jonny Kim was selected by NASA to join the 2017 Astronaut Candidate Class. He reported for duty in August 2017 and having completed the initial astronaut candidate training is now eligible for a mission assignment. A U.S. Navy SEAL, Kim completed more than 100 combat operations and is the recipient of the Silver Star and Bronze Star with Combat “V”. Kim was commissioned as a naval officer through an enlisted-to-officer program and earned his degree in mathematics at the University of San Diego and a doctorate of medicine at Harvard Medical School. Kim reported for duty in August 2017 and completed two years of training as an Astronaut Candidate. He will be assigned technical duties in the Astronaut Office while he awaits flight assignment. He is one of the Agency’s top change consultants and is helping NASA leaders adapt to the ever-changing landscape of business paradigm shifts and culture change to achieve mission success. Dr. Mat has built custom training on stress resilience, strategic communication, and teamwork. Prior to his service at NASA, Dr. Mat earned his Clinical Psychology degree with a special emphasis on Sport Psychology and taught full-time as a professor at John F. Kennedy University. Dr. Mat has consulted with numerous world-class Sports figures, Olympians, and Executives on building a masterful mindset, cultivating meaningful relationships, and lasting behavioral change for themselves, their people, and their teams.\n\n\n\n
