She is the author of North Korea’s Hidden Revolution: How the Information Underground is Transforming a Closed Society, and is the Founder and Co-Director of Lumen, a non-profit organization that works to make information available to all North Koreans. Prior to receiving her doctorate in Public Policy at the University of Oxford, she was a research fellow at the Belfer Center, and worked at Google headquarters for several years where, among other roles, she served as Google Ideas’ North Korea expert. Baek received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Harvard. She is a proud Los Angeles native. She joined in 2006 as Deputy Director, managing day-to-day operations and coordinating overseas programs, including underground shelters and refugee resettlement efforts in the United States and in South Korea. At the end of 2008, she became President/CEO, helping to re-found the organization with a new mission focused on building international support for the North Korean people, providing direct assistance to North Korean refugees, and developing long-term, people-focused strategies to accelerate positive change inside the country. Prior to joining LiNK, Hannah worked in advertising at OgilvyOne and Mindshare focusing on digital media and emerging technologies. She was a 2008 NetKAL fellow at the USC School of Social Work and a 2016 Ashoka Korea Fellow.\n\n\n\n \n \nJihyun Park\n \n\nNorth Korean Defector, Human Rights Activist, and Co-Author of Deux Coréennes\n\n\n\n \n\nJihyun Park is a North Korean escapee, a human rights activist, and the co-author of Deux Coréennes. Ms. Park is a survivor of forced marriage and human trafficking. She escaped twice from North Korea, enduring imprisonment in North Korean gulags, and many near-death experiences. Today, as a human rights activist, she exemplifies tremendous courage as she advocates for the rights of North Korean women and children. Her work continues to place her in danger on a daily basis. She is the winner of the NatWest Chairman’s Award AWA in 2018, Award Amnesty Brave Award 2020, and the Han Won Chae Human Rights Award in 2021. She currently lives in the UK with her family and is a conservative candidate for local elections in the UK.\n\n\n\n \n \n\nSylvia Kim\n\nGeneral Partner, CerraCap Cares\n\n\n\n \n\nSylvia Kim is the General Partner of CerraCap Cares, an impact fund unleashing the power of technology for good by investing in early-stage human-centered technologies that aspire to reduce disparities and empower the underserved. Currently, she is also a Venture Partner with CerraCap Ventures, an active member of the Global Women in VC community, and a member of the inaugural 2020 class of the All Raise Visionary Voices Speakers Bureau. Previously, Sylvia co-founded a human rights organization for North Korean human rights and was the Founding Director of the country’s first National Asian American Community Foundation.
